Dimplex Electric Fire MKII flame effect stopped moving, help?

The flame effect on my Dimplex Electric Fire has stopped moving. The two light bulbs located in the base are still OK and are lit but the ribbons that create the movement are not moving. What can I do?

Hi
I had the same problem. Behind the lights is a long fluted tube, this is the fan and has probably stopped turning. Try flicking it round to try and get it going again. I do it with my finger but really you better try a little piece of wood or something, just in case. It works for mine but still stops now and then.
It must the the little bearings at each end getting a bit sticky.

Sounds like the fan which blows the ribbons has failed -there is little else to go wrong. They are not difficult to replace and can be bought from Dimplex parts agents, however they are not cheap.
