hOW TO GET MY BOILER TO LIGHT EVERY TIME?

POTTERTON PROFILE 80E.

WHEN THERE IS A DEMAND FOR IT TO LIGHT THE IGNITION PILOT LIGHT IGNITES AND THE MAIN BURNER DOES NOT LIGHT. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE SOLENOID IS FAULTY ?
IF I WERE TO REPLACE IT IS THERE ANY REASON WHY I SHOULD NOT USE THE HONEYWELL GAS VALVE IT IS A LOT CHEAPER?

THANKS

Just checked the installation and sevicing manual for my Profile 100e which has either SIT or White Rodgers control valve...

Page 23... GAS CONTROL VALVE
"Note: The White Rodgers and S.I.T. control valves are not interchangeable, and must be replaced like for like."

No mention of Honeywell

The Corgi boys will moan at you if you do and cite gas safety regulations owned by the HSE in the UK...

(may be current - may be out of date)

I had the same problem on a Profile100e but it was not the gas valve... turned out to be a weak pilot flame and an insufficient signal (the pilot is burning well) for the PCB to ask the valve to open.

After cleaning dirt from the pilot injector it ran like a champ with the pilot flame big and beefy.

Unable to answer your direct question though - sorry...
