np 6016 - toner error?

I have inserted a new toner cartridge but the error of no ink won't go away. What is wrong? Is there a sensor that might be malfunctioning now or is there an ink on the sensor that won't clear it?

Check that the new toner cartridge is fully turned round to the correct position...IE the arrows line up
