Too Much Oil ?

Put too much oil in my 98 Ford Fiesta by accident and a massive cloud billowed out of exhaust. Obviously burning excess off. Only travelled a few hundred metres but car spluttered a lot. Could this have damaged my engine? And what is best remedy?

It is possible to damage an engine by filling it with too much oil. You need to open the sump plug and drain the excess oil out ASAP.
