When I try to open the bathroom window the left hand bolt does not retract at all, the right hand side retracts fully. No amount of pushing or prising has had any effect,can anyone offer a solution

It will be much easier to do this if you can remove the glazed unit first as that is the main strength of a UPVC window, it sounds like the lock has broken on one side. You can try prising the frame enough to insert a metal spatula/scraper and if you can locate the cam you should be able to knock it free with a hammer.

you will have to prise the side which is still locked wiv a small crowbar or such like there will be enough play in it to open it then u can get the lock working properly
