Fridge not getting cold?

I have a Frigidaire larder fridge and it is not getting cold and it is on all the time - buzzing noise that used to come on and then go off. The black 'pot' at the back is really hot! I have checked the temp setting dial and when I move it 7 down to 1 the noise stops and then starts shortly after again...anyone any ideas?

Thats what we were told by different engineers until we got in touch with a coompany who service the london and surrey postcodes www.agsrefrigeration.co.uk they came out that the relay was faulty which they replaced.

Probably originally a loss of refridgerant gas and because you are still trying to run it even though it is not getting cold (which is a pointless waste of power) you have more than likely stuffed the compressor motor (the black pot as you call it). I say this because you say that the compressor is very hot & buzzing. Call in a service company or just go and buy a new fridge.
