How can I get ipod to play?

Ipod classic stock on zero seconds on all tracks. Won't play, no sound. Computer won't recognise ipod

First, toggle the hold switch from on to off and back again; then hold the centre and bottom buttons down for fully 20 seconds. The machine will reset itself.
