What's wrong with my Fujifilm S5000 camera?

My Fujifilm S5000 is showing a low battery warning and powering off all the time. Even with a known good set of fully charged batteries.

The on/off switch is faulty, we can view photos taken but cannot take any new photos when dial is turned to the camera (red camera picture) the screen stays blank and camera doesn't respond.
