Honeywell 3 port diverter valve?

I have a diverter valve which doesnt switch to hot water when i request it to do so from the programmer. Hot water still works but from the immersion heater. The diverter valve is constantly positioned to heating and doesnt move to 'hot water'. Will i have to change whole unit or is there a specific part that might be faulty and need changing...please help as later option could save me time/money!!!! many thanks, SAM

usually its just the head that burns out so a replacement head is merely 2 screws and a few wires to connect in as old one was wired. Simples!

If the valve itself has siezed/snapped off/ etc then its a drain down to replace full assembly.

Caution as some older valves you cant remove head without a flood =) as they not designed to be split, if in doubt the easiest way for you, would be to phone a parts center and ask if a replacement head is available for the (make and model) valve head you have.

usually the rest position is for the valve to be on hot water only. the valve may be stuck in heating only position in which case you may be able to replace the synchron motor in the actuator, it may also be a wiring fault, has anyone been messing with the wiring? it may also be a faulty cylinder stat jammed in the 'satisifed' position.
