Citroen c5 2.0 HDI temp light & engine stop light?

Citroen c5 2.0 HDI temp light & engine stop light comes on every morning after about 1/2 mile and then goes off after about 10 secs. the temp needle also moves up to half way then drops back to cold when the lights flash. the car drives fine (even when lights come on) it just does it once every morning and then its fine until the next day. any suggestions???

I've had this problem for ages. I checked the blower and hot water is circulating. I know that the engine isn't overheating because I've seen the temp needle go from cold to off the scale almost immediately. It's annoying but you can live with it.

same problem ,what head gasket you talking about

I have the same problem - it may apparantly be caused by a failure of the impeller in the waterpump.
It seems that if one stops for a minute then restarts one can go on for quite a long distance

sounds like head gasket is blown
