How can I fix my noisy Zanussi Washing machine Model No FLA 1201W?

How do I fix my noisy Zanussi washing Machine Model FLA 1201W
Neal Abdool, March 2006
Depends on the type of noise. Could need new motor brushes or the bearing has gone. Lay the machine on its side and you will see the motor on the bottom. You will see the brushes attached either side of the motor housing they are in plastic cases( usually black ) normally the size of your thumb, two fixing srews holding the brush on. Loosen the screws and remove one brush, take care not to drop a screw inside the motor, detach the single wire. If the carbon brush pushes into the housing then they are fine . If they do not then you will need to purchase a new set. Cost around £10 - £15 per set.
If the noise is generated by the bearing, (usually only very noisy when spinning), then this will need to be done by an experienced engineer. This is due to the drum being a split drum, and will need to be sealed back together after a new bearing is fitted. This is a real pig of a job and really does need doing by someone who is experienced, and they are better off doing the machine at their own workshop as they will need time to let the seal set. Usually it costs between £75 - £100 all in. (Labour & Parts)
Hope this helps
