How do I change the settings to 'pet' mode?

I have a Scantronic 9651 alarm system. We recently got two cats and are no longer able to leave the cats in the house with the alarm on as we expect it to go off.

Is there a way of setting the alarm so that it does not detect pets?

It is not that simple!
You need to have pet smart detectors ( P.I.R`s)fitted to the system, they are immune to certain sizes and weights of pet to enable movement without triggering alarm.
I would suggest contact a local alarm company.
