i have a back bolier behind my gas fire in my kitchen it will not fire up i have had the pilot light lit and its stays lit but it will not fire the boiler up, every so often the boiler will fire up for a few seconds but then cuts out, i have no heating or hot water because of this so need some help asap please ???

you don't say what make / model. but id be guessing at a faulty boiler stat or pump
