How to replace a press stud fastening?

I have a new jacket which had a press stud missing but there are 2 spare press studs in a packet on the label. I just can't work out how to fit it together correctly. Please help!

Did you find the answer to this problem? I have exactly the same issue - how do you fix the replacement press stud, there are no instructions and as I only have the one spare supplied I don't want to break it.
