how can i fix my strimmer?

i have a petrol strimmer the bar inside seems to spin and not catch do i need a new threaded bar

My black and decker electric string trimmer is supposed to feed string whenever the on button is pulled. Usually it doesn't, which is very frustrating. Any ideas on how to address this?
