Repair Fuji Finepix Flash?

I have a Fuji Finepix S5700 and the flash will not open automatically. It opens slightly but the flash will not fire. If I hold it open it will fire okay. Any ideas if/how this could be repaired?

Wow. Open the camera and fix it. What an expert . . .

Better than stripping the camera down and doing delicate surgery to insert the spring is to use a rubber band around the eye piece stuck to the top of the flash...works perfectly for me.

I am experiencing the same problem with the same camera. I had my hand on the flash when it popped up. That was the reason.. Any ideas? Do I have to dissasemble the whole camera ?

The flash is operated by an electro magnetic solenoid switch which works faster than a mechanical device.
This switch releases the flash head which is spring loaded. Sounds like your spring has come loose and will need to be located back. When the flash pops up normally it activates a micro switch which makes a circuit for the flash to work. Unfortunately you will have to strip the camera down to locate the spring inside the top of the camera.
