Ford Escort Finesse (zetec) 1999 Engine will not idle some times it cuts out other times it soars to about 2 thousand revs.

propably a malfunctioning exhaust gas sensor or bad connections there. check it out. It's on the exhaust pipe, a little black box with wiring going into it. It's just a guess tho.
