rover 45 diesel, started tapping noise very loud, engine still runnuing, timing spot on, sounds like a diesel knock, checked everything i can think of.
faulty injection timing or faulty injector can cause this.release the top nut to the injector one by one and see if the knock goes away.if it does this could indicate that the injector is faulty.Please be aware high pressure fuel will be there so be extremely careful when doing this and keep hands WELL away
