How can I make my Tizio table lamp maintain a set position?

My Tizio table lamp does not maintain any position at which I set it. Rather, it simply breaks from the position and heads straight up to a fully vertical position. Can this be corrected?
I can't find a model no. The lamp is more than 12 years old & was designed by R. Sapper

I THINK YOUR TIZIO IS FRIZIO'D!
Throw it in the skip around the corner, when you are walking the dog.
Buy a new lamp!
