My indesit dishwasher has ran out of salt and I did not realise this and kept using the machine. All was fine until yesterday when it would not start (the lights were on and all that) so today i filled the salt compartment and just after a burning smell emmitted from the machine and also it still wont work.

the element is hot and had been washing ok although the dishes were sometimes still dirty and would need another wash.

any ideas on how to fix or has my faithful friend finally given up the ghost??????
