Icy door lock?

Hi I have had my Ford Ka for about 7 months bought when weather was better and now find that the drivers door lock won't work when icy, could you advice please as having to gain access by passenger side at the moment. Thankyou

try spraying wd40 through the straw provided into the lock when car fully warmed up and defrosted for better penetration into lock
