how can i fix my power drill?

my crew hooked up an outlet to a light fixture and plugged my drill into it to to use. it worked for a second then died. turned out to be the voltage at the light is 277 volts. can i fix this myself? what could be burnt that i could repair myself?

I would say tell your "crew" YOU ARE SACKED. Then call an electrician to remove the connection to the light fixture and ensure its safe. then reconnect the power. The voltage in the UK is 240v
regardless of lighting,power ect. The amperage tho is different.
The amperage of a normal light circuit is 5 amps.The amperage of a
power circuit is 15 amps Radial and 30 on a ring main. ( to allow for a 13 amp fuse )
