The patio doors on my house which was only built about 5 years ago, when we locked the door we heard something fall into the door and the lock will not work, the key turns to about the 4 oclock piont one way and then 8 oclock the other way but we can not now unlock the doors can you explain what this might be and how to open the doors and repair

sounds like you need a locksmith to drill it out. Most doors have 10 year warranty, check it.
