scantronic 9800 fault?

Hi,

I have a Scantronic 9800 on my house and recently it has started to go off in the middle of the day or night. The alarm was even set. The other day it went off and I entered my user code like I have done every time to stop the alarm going off. When I entered my user the stopped but the service and fault light appeared with what looks like "tr" displayed in disply screen. I re-entered my user code to try and clear the lights and then the display flashed with "rr" followed by "t6".

I have also tried the panel user code of 0123 which I got online and the engineer code of 07890. Neither of these codes of helped.

Any help would be great

Thanks

My 9800 alarm displayed a temperature fault, the main box is fitted in the airing cupboard and had been coved with linen and towels causing it to overheat I turned it all off completely and allowed it to cool and removed all the obstructions.I'm ready to re-start the system(its been off a few months though!), do I simply turn on at the mains now and re-boot the system, reading the manual it sounds as though it needs the re-set pins shorting out.Any advise please.

OK Daz you appear to have a manual - look at the NVM reset section. Then re-programme the system.

Once the panel is defaulted the codes are user 1234 and 07890.

when you enter engineer mode code 07890 the system will beep and the service red light will flash - go to the end stn (big wht metal panel - could be under stairs in a garage if you have one or next to to your main electric consumer box) Open the panel quick the sound will stop and the keypad will display an "E" - fo engineer mode. Then to come out of engineers you press 99 clear (tick) and the red service light goes out and green day light is on. The circuits are not programmed at this time and you only have 10 seconds to exit on setting. my advice would be to try it now before doing more programming (1234 A to set) 1234to unset) to see if tr is still dispalyed - if it is then your bell box tamper switch is faulty and you may need to replace the bell box - however you can link the tamper return out to O volts in the main panel - to illiminate this temporarily. then try again - if no fault and all is well then programm on the system one circuit/zone at a time to see how it works. options 40 - 44 are the timer options off memory. good luck.

Default user codd is 1234 engineer code is 07890. You need to replace the battery in the panel. Tr = Tamper return and T6 means you hve a tmper on cct / zone 6. Look at your zone list to see whats what

Tr can relate to your external bell box - is the alarm monitored? is there a reset pad? If not you gonna need to default the panel. Then re- programme it. - If you are not an engineer may be more cost effective to replace the system - Install a Premier 48 with Prox key pads. Brilliant system.

Let me know how you get on !

if it sets the alarm off,the the code has been changed
and the panel would need reset, but this will not fix your prob, you must the fault.

i dont think much of your alarm comp,no one fits an alarm and not put zones on back page, there is a space for it.if for nothing else it makes fault finding very easy.

you have not answered my question, the lights wont go out till you rectify the fault,i.e.the tamper, what we would do is open the panel and check zone six tamper circuit,to enter the engineering code, you key in o enter 7890

I got the code number online from another forum.

Daz, May 2011
Yes I have the engineering manual for your system. When I enter the 07980 number the internal bell sounds and then I put my user code in and it stops the bell sounding.

But still doesn't turn the fault and service light off.

Please help

you have an open or short circuit in the zone 6,you must find it and rectify it then the panel will return to normal,if you open the end station then you will have even more trouble, because you need the engineering code ,that you dont have.how did you key in the engineering code 07890?may i ask

gts, May 2011
you tried the 07890?if that did not work then the installer has changed the code, check each sensor to make sure that non have loose covers if you have any pirs, check door contacts for damage or wires cut,
do you have the engineering manual for your system?

The company that fitted the alarm didn't mark the zones. I am unable to do a walk test as I can't even set the alarm as both the service light and fault lights are on. Any suggestion on how to get them lights to go off?

Daz, May 2011
put your alarm on walk test, then get some one to walk through your house ,dont you have your user manual ?
your alarm comp should have marked the zones in youn user manual

gts, May 2011
How can I find out which zone 6 is?

Daz, May 2011
you have a fault on zone 6,check for loose cover if pir on 6 or damaged cable

gts, May 2011
tr =tamper return,rr=reset required,t6 is tamper on zone 6

gts, May 2011
sorry the panel user code I found online was 01234 not 0123
