how to fix singer foot controller?

i have a foot controller which operate the machine the way it should do, but the light goes dim and then completely off when i depress the pedal fully the machine is still working ok, but the light is off?

some one changed the wiring either on machine receptacle or the foot control ,depending on 3 or 4 prong the wires on foot and machine should match
