Why does the electricity trip out when I switch the oven switch on at wall?

We have the Beko D532 free standing electric cooker. Even if the cooker itself is switched off, the mains trip out when the cooker switch on the wall is switched on. There is nothing else plugged into this socket. We have turned everything off at the consumer unit and then switched each one back on one at a time. When we switch the cooker one on at the consumer unit (even if the cooker itself is turned off), it trips most of the others out. Does this sound like a problems with the cooker or the cooker switch on the wall? Many thanks.

have the cooker meggered by a spark, you dont say if its the rccd that trips,or a mcb,in any case,do not use the cooker untill you have done what i suggested

sound like a short in main supply between wall socket and cooker ,suggest removing main supply and inspect wiring maybe touching cooker body or other wires
