how to change the code in a veriteas 8 , tried the instrutions but they dont work . zone lights dont flash after entering prog.

press 0,0
enter 0,1
enter new code *,*,*,*,
press PROG
press RESET.

There's more than one version of the veritas 8,either you are not following the correct procedure or you have different software version.
