I have a 2002 Astra Estate and whilst braking today a massive clump of snow slid from my roof on to my windscreen stooping the wipers from working. I got out and cleared the snow but now the wipers won't work. On fast mode I can hear the motor whirring round so I don't think it's the motor - could it be the threads on the arms that have worn trying to move then when stuck?

check the wiper arm nuts connecting them to the spindles aren`t loose,if they are tight then it is probably a fault with your linkage and the scuttle panel will have to come off for a look
