mcculloch virginia 542 petrol hedge trimmer petrol line detached?

My mcculloch virginia 542 petrol hedge trimmer has a petrol line which comes from the back of the fuel tank and is currently just flapping free, gushing fuel out. I can't see where it should connect to, any ideas< Thanks!

...further inspection shows this fuel pipe comes from the top of the fuel tank; I can see two others which are presumably the main fuel line and the return. So is this loose one a vent tube? If so, where should it vent to?
