How can I fix a my kitchen aid quiet scrub large capacity washing machine?

I have a 12 year old kitchen aid washing machine that stops during the rinse cycle. I can move the knob a little and get it to restart, but that is becoming harder to do. Is it worth fixing or should I not even bother and buy a new washer?
