How can I permanently disable a single burner on my ceramic hob?

I have an electric cooker. One of the hobs was turning itself on sometimes, I have changed the energy regulator of that hob and it is now permanently on! PLEASE can someone tell me how to disable this hob safely? I can find no info on google, which is amazing lol but I am probably searching the wrong thing (not being an expert by any means ;) I am capable of taking the glass top off, and loosening wires if needed, Im hoping this solves the problem as I can't afford an electrician :) Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance

I can't help you much further without seeing it and testing it but you probably only need to remove 1 wire and it will stop the ring working

I wired it exactly as it was wired before, so unless that was wrong I don't think I did- well, I hope not! Do you mean disconnect the wires from the ring, or from the energy regulator? Also would I disconnect all of the 5 wires? Is this a safe solution, or is the cooker ready for the scrap yard? Thanks so much for your advice :) Clare

disconnect the wiring to the ring and insulate them. The fact you put a new energy regulator on and it is now on permanently suggests you have connected it up wrong. Please be careful electric kills and so do electrical house fires!!!
