how can I check remote for Grundig MDC65 minidisc/cd?

After long disuse I now find the remote for my Grundig MDC 65 Minidisc/CD recorder/player doesn't operate. Tried different batteries of course, and the unit works ok from the on-unit buttons etc.
Can't be sure the remote is U/S and can't find a replacement on web (did see a Matsui that looked the same?) Any info on replacement/how to check remote/ or compatible remote, please . Thanks - Dave

Thanks! Had no idea that digital cameras can "see" infrared remote control emitting signal!

Well it IS emitting infrared so I guess its the actual Grundig MDC65 that's at fault

Actually unit has had little use - just 'laid-up' for several years! Everything is working via the manual controls. Has anyone ideas on this?
Many thanks - Dave

Point the remote at a digital camera - you should see the remote operating in the view finder - try other remotes in your house - see how they compare.

Good luck..., February 2015
