My Kenwood Chef (KM201) won't start. It's not a motor problem but rather seems that the on/off/speed dial, is broken somewhere, as it rotates around and around and doesn't have a stop anymore.

How do I remove it? Also, is it possible the issue is a part beneath the dial as well, not just the dial?
I've opened the center of the dial and removed the circlip that holds it to the shaft, but it STILL won't come off. Am I missing something, or should I just break it off (It is crumbling anyway, I'll need a new one).
