Panasonic NV-HD600, powers up but goes off in a few secs with the 'hot' ?

My VCR, Panasonic NV-HD600, powers up but goes off in a few seconds with the 'hot' message. Presumably this is fan stopped or operating inefficiently. I have opened the machine but cannot locate fan. Any help would be appreciated.

You have done a search for - say - "Panasonic NV-HD600 hot" haven't you?

I did and found this:

https://www.elektrotanya.com/panasonic-nv-hd600.pdf/download.html

Flicking through the manual doesn't show a=ny fan, form which one would suggest the "Hot" error is referring to a motor, possibly a solenoid or a device probably just on a heatsink.

This is interesting https://www.maritv.net/Public/data/remlab/201254115232_Difetti%20VCR.pdf - are you sure the error message isn't "H02" or "HO2"? - that is a capstan error on a similar model.

There may be results out there which could be found with similar searches.
