How do I know if the element has gone on a SMEG A2-5?

Following a power cut, the main oven of my SMEG A2-5 no longer works when set to the ventilated heating element setting. All other functions work and the power is there, oven lights are working for example. Has the heating element failed? and if so, has anyone any tips for replacing please. The cooker is actually only 18 months old.

Did you ever get an answer to your problem? I have got exactly the same problem with my Smeg A2-5. I have been working away with the oven for ages like this but would like to get it fixed at some point!
