Will reformatting wipe out all programming or just the music on an mp3?

On an RCA Lyra S1000 will formatting it via windows (right click and choose format) wipe out just the music or will it also wipe out the preloaded programming such as the fm tuner, etc. My friend loaded songs that were not a compatible type and now the player is full but when you open the drive it shows nothing there for us to delete.

Reformatting will wipe everything!
Clean away!
If the files are not being seen on your computer make sure the 'files of type' drop down box is set to all files - if it is set to only see say mp3 files, and the ones that are on it are say wma files - my computer wont see anything.
