the rads are working fine. But when you try to get hot water the water on heats if you keep the pressure from the taps really low...as soon as you let more water through the taps the bolier seems unable to cope and the water comes through cold. pressure seems fine....any ideas?

Probably the diaphragm in the diverter valve. service kits available. have you tried getting estimetes from local plumbers or sevice people? it can be done by do-it-yourself but you need a basic understanding of plumbing and mechanacal equipment, not so much to do it but to know what to do if it goes wrong .
