Repair to a Tecumseh LAV153 4 stroke?

I'm overhauling this unit, but don't get a spark when rotating the flywheel. I discovered after removing the flywheel to check the contact breaker gap that the 'insulated' contact point show nil resistance to ground irrespective as to whether the points are open or closed. Disconnecting the condenser and magneto lead plus the second magneto lead (normally connected to ground) shows that there is virtually no resistance through the magneto coil, although the condenser is not leaking.
Is this a). normal, or b). not normal, and the reason why I am getting no spark? The magneto coil is a sealed unit but maybe there's some internal insulation breakdown.

Never too late! maybe ignore the resistance issue try cleaning the laminate sections of both the coil magnet and the flywheel magnets as rust can cause a lack of magnetic flux to generate the bag of sparks. I found that one out after leaving one of these motors undercover but not out of the way of damp conditions over winter once. And application of wdfaulty or similar, can help prevent reocurrence of the problem. Also worth checking if the throttle control cable contactor on the carb is working ok...

Normal resistacce through the coil primary is less than 5 ohms. Soggestion - buy a 'Nova' electronic ignition module (approx £5 in the UK) and throw the contact breakers away. Problem solved - forever.
