My Robinson Willey 'sahara' gas fire will not stay lit?

It has a 'safeguard' feature where you have to hold down the regulator to light the pilot. If I continue to hold it down for about 30 mins it may then light the rest of the fire but only for a short period of time? Is it fixable?

the thermocouple needs to be replaced, it looks like a little probe that sits in the pilot light, when the pilot is alight, it heats the probe sending a signal to open the main gas valve
