dual flush toilet not flushing properly?

why does my new dual flush cystern flush o.k. but then continue to run . sometimes if you gently tap the button it resets o.k.

SAME PROBLEM - BUT THE CISTERN CONTINUES TO FILL OVER THE DUAL FLUSH UNIT AND DRAIN DOWN THE OVERFLOW. WE HAVE HAD THE UNIT REPLACED, WE HAD ADJUSTED IT WITH THE THREADED ROD AND HAD THE WATER PRESSURE ADJUSTED BUT IT CONTINUES TO OVERFILL - HELP!!

sounds like it's not shutting fully.
trouble is there all plastic and cheap now days.
remove the lid and see what part is catching.
