how do I remove the agitator in my kenmore elite washer?

remove the fabric softner cap on the top, if equiped. then there is a plug in the tube, just pull that out. there is an 1/2 inch drive hole in a plastic retainer. just use a rachet & long 1/2 drive extension to turn it. then u should see a bolt to remove and out it comes
