Water hoses are connected and valves are open which should allow the whole washing process to go on normally, no water appears to be getting through at all, the DIPLOMAT IPX4 is about as brilliant a piece of Italian electronic wizardry as I have come to expect, I'm thinking the poor electrics are kapputt! Any suggestions?

Have you checked the filter and cleaned it? I recently had a very similar problem and cleaning the filter solved it.
