How can I fix the starter cord on my hayter jubilee 43 lawn mower?

I ran over a trowel with my hayter petrol mower and the starter/pull cord has snapped off in the lawn mower under the top cover. How do I replace it and do I have to take it apart to do so?

done
you need a 3/8 socket a No. 2 Philips screwdriver, and an 8mm socket to strip it to replace the rope. You do not need to drill out any rivets, it is a very simple strip down .While it is in bits, oil the recoil spring as it is the only time it will get done.
