How Can I repair my Hotpoint APM 6528?

I have a hotpoint APM 6528 Built in refridgerator which has developed a fault with the door open warning alarm.
The refridgerator appears to be operating properly (if anything running colder than previously)but the door open alarm keeps sounding regardless of the door being closed.I can cancel it by pressing the reset button but it will sound again after an uncertain time.

I have the same fridge from MFI (fully intergrated) I had the same problem. We had taken out the after care extra service plan and an engineer was called to fix it. The replacement part costs £90. The connection fitting was slightly different on the new thermostat fitting (was told this was due to upgrades etc). Once you remove the thermostat - which you have to break off to remove. The connector is is mis-aligned and does not connect to the new termostat fitting.
The fridge couldn't be fixed and has been written off.

Good luck.

I think I have a similar problem - but it is not due to door being open. Along with the alarm sounding and the red light flashing I have the temperature indicators 6 and 7 showing together. The operating guide say that this may be due to the door being frequently open or hot food being placed in the fridge. It say that if it keeps happening then to refer the after-sales service. I am reluctant to pay the £70 call-out fee if it is just a thermostat problem that I should be able to fix myself.
BTW: Once after I cancelled the alarm it continued to flash and lights 7 and 5 showed.
Does this sound familiar? Anybody know how to fix it?
