How do i fix the lock on the driver's side door?

I have an Escort Encore 1995, the driver side door lock has stopped opening?? it still locks, any suggestions.

With fords you will find that any ford key of the same type will lock any ford door lock.Are you sure you are you using the correct key to unlock it with.
