makes loud noise when washing

Aggetator stopped working. I use to get resistence i one direction and free spin in the other. Now I get free spin in both directions. Is there a belt that might have broken?

The washer starts, spins, rinses etc. but I have to manually turn the dial to get it to do each selected task.
