How can I fix a leak in a lead valley?

I need to reroof 1901 tiled 5 bed semi but can't afford to do the whole job for a couple of years. Can I repair the lead valley temporaliy myself. I can reach thro the velux window as we have a loft extension.
The lead valley has some small cracks and water has stained the ceiling below which is how I discovered the problem. The loft space is wet.

Just paint it - couple of coats should do the trick - modern plastic paints have a fair bit of stretch and if its only a couple of years you can do it again next summer

You can use a self adhesive tape called 'Flashband' which will stick to the old lead if its dry (its better to paint on the special primer first). Flashband is like a pitch bandage with a very thin lead coating on the outside. Replacement of the valley is the only real cure though.

Try Leadmate, mate.
