I have gone through the usual procedure of removing the batteries and pressing the star button, waiting for the default sign, and then it just goes back to base 1 and is unusable.I cannot find the handbook, so if anyone can email me a copy of theirs I would be most grateful.

Unplug from the power source. Replug after short interval and the phone will be reset.

But I think the phone is probably broken. One of my handsets is doing the same thing. The other is fine.
