my thetford toilet flush shutter will only close half way. the the alingment knob moves freely . it was workingfine befor i emptied the waste container. any anwers?

Doesn't sound good especially if you pulled the cassette out without making sure the valve was completely closed you may have damaged the operating mechanism.
It is a dealer/service agent job. Sorry can't be of any more help.
