I have removed the pump and powered it independently and it ran OK. I refitted it and it ran 2 cycles before refusing to pump out up again. I have powered the pump directly again, this time in situ and it does not run. I am guessing that the pump is a goner. Can anyone tell me otherwise?

if you put mains direct onto the motor and it didn't start up then I would have to agree with you that the motor is dead.the magnets inside them become weak and cause this type of fault
